Secondment at University of Malta

During the secondment at the University of Malta from September 25 to October 8, 2024, the main activities were focused on research collaboration within the framework of the SME 5.0 project, particularly addressing human-centred innovation and technological transformation in small and medium-sized enterprises.
An in-depth analysis and discussions were conducted on the barriers to empowering workers with different abilities, with the aim of increasing their inclusion and participation in SME work environments.
The current technological requirements and future expectations of systems and tools designed to empower workers were examined, with a focus on increasing the attractiveness of jobs in SMEs.
Several seminars and lab sessions were held in collaboration with UM researchers, addressing the topics including Smart and Sustainable Workstations; Virtual Reality for Future Work in SMEs and Digital Twin Implementation in industrial contexts.
We also discussed on digital technologies and their role in enhancing workers safety and comfort, focusing on physical and cognitive ergonomics in alignment with Industry 5.0 principles.
